Misurina’s first lifts were built in the 1950s: a chairlift with wooden seats would carry skiers up to Col de Varda with its mountain inn. The lifts have been renovated and improved over the years – in 1995, the old lift was replaced by a double chairlift manufactured by Leitner  - yet the charming alpine environment has remained intact.

Starting from the 2019-2020 winter season, the Col de Varda lift,  thanks to a new snow groomer equipped with a winch, enables skiers to ride down the "Pala dei Francesi", a challenging, highly technical ski run that was used by the French team as training track during the 1964 Olympics. All mountain enthusiasts, even non-skiers,  can comfortably reach Col de Varda by chairlift and then continue to Rifugio Città di Carpi and Malga Maraia.

Where the beginners’ area, the so called Loita, lies now, the first lift was a rope tow leading to Capanna Balbo. In 1961, along with the construction of the Pian dei Spiriti drag lift nearby, the rope tow was replaced by a drag lift and in 2009 by a chairlift manufactured by the Leitner company. The beginners’ area is complemented by a 5 km long cross-country ski loop track which, at the same time, is the perfect destination  to take a stroll on the snow or just lie in the sun, since Misurina offers excellent south facing exposure.
