The gondola was opened at Christmas 2021. This lift is much more than a mere skiing link, it is a 10-minute ride through the majestic wilderness of the Queen of the Dolomites, a bird’s eye view while comfortably seated in the warm gondolas. The new link between the 5 Torri and the Tofane ski areas travels 4.5 km and 242 vertical metres. The journey is a privileged vantage flight through the Ampezzo Dolomites to discover the most beautiful sights the Queen of the Dolomites can offer: starting from Son dei Prade, leaving behind you Cortina’s valley surrounded by Faloria, Cristallo, and Pomagagnon mountains, Becco di Mezzodì, Croda da Lago, and Lastoi de Formin on your right.
The first section of the legendary Freccia nel Cielo cable car was completely renovated in January 2020, the second section of the lift - the state-of-the-art Ra Valles - Bus di Tofana 4-seater detachable hooded chairlift - was opened in January 2022. The lift features an intermediate station with a 90° bent next to the start of the present Bus di Tofana chairlift, while its top station is located lower downhill on the right to the old lift. The Bus Tofana ski run, at 2850 is the highest skiable spot in the Tofane area. At Ra Valles, once on top of the chairlift, skiers will experience the feeling of being in the heart of the mountain, almost touching the rocks and then descend on natural snow at the foot of the Tofane massifs.
The first and newest gondola in Cortina with 47 10-seater cabins was opened in December 2019. It partly retraces the line of the previous cable car, yet the great novelty lies in the Colfiere mid-station which allows skiers to remain on the higher ski runs and avoid going back to the valley to gain elevation. The creation of the mid-station and the concurrent renovation of Col Druscié A and Col Druscié B ski runs has boosted and enhanced the value of this part of the Tofana ski area turning it into one of the most technical as well as glamour ones due to the high-end Masi Wine Bar rest stop.
