Culture as source of wealth and skiing! Skitour Cortina - Badia

Lagazuoi - Lagazuoi Expo Dolomiti

The ski tour interconnecting Cortina and Alta Badia runs past several cultural highlights. The Lagazuoi ski area, the “connecting point” between the Veneto and Alto Adige areas, features the Lagazuoi Expo Dolomiti, one of the highest exhibition centres in Europe, and the FW4 emplacement from World War 1. Come and discover all the other highlights!

2021 Ski World Championships

Sports are also part of culture. The Alpine Ski World Championships were held in the Tofane ski area with men’s and women’s  downhill, super G, giant slalom, slalom, Alpine combined, parallel slalom plus a mixed team event. Skiing on the same slopes where legendary ski racers challenge each other is so thrilling that it has to be experienced at least once in a lifetime.

Astronomical Observatory at Col Druscié

The “Helmut Ullrich” Col Druscié Astronomical Observatory is located on the namesake mountain at the foot of the Tofane group, at 1780 m of altitude. Every year hundreds of amateur astronomers, students, and curious enthusiasts  visit the observatory and gaze at the wonders of the sky from a highly privileged vantage point with clear sky and very low light pollution.

World War 1 Emplacement

The FW4 emplacement is the only frontline emplacement that can be reached on skis in winter by turning right at the very start from the Lagazuoi cable car top station. It was excavated in the ridge,  the “Rocky Wall” as the Italian soldiers used to call the wall of fortified rock built by the Austrians to defend the Lagazuoi saddle.
