“Montagna Consapevole”: A New Project for a Safe and Responsible Approach to the Dolomiti Bellunesi
Living the mountains with awareness, preparation, and respect — this is the goal of “Montagna Consapevole”, the new project launched by Fondazione DMO Dolomiti Bellunesi, with the support of the Province of Belluno, Dolomiti UNESCO Foundation, CAI Veneto, Alpine Guides, Mountain Rescue, ULSS 1 Dolomiti, AGRAV, and the Veneto Mountain Hut Association.
Officially presented to the media, the initiative targets everyone who visits the mountains — hikers, tourists, and outdoor enthusiasts — and aims to spread a culture of safety and responsibility. The project is featured on the official tourism portal visitdolomitibellunesi.com, with a dedicated section offering tips, best practices, and insights relevant for both summer and winter seasons.
At the heart of the project is a decalogue of mountain awareness, addressing key topics such as interpreting weather and avalanche reports, choosing the right gear, knowing one’s limits, and the importance of relying on certified professionals. All content is available in three languages, making it accessible to an international audience.
“The mountains welcome us, but they demand respect,” stated Roberto Padrin, President of the Province of Belluno. “This project is the result of collaboration between institutions, professionals, and communities, aiming to build safer and more sustainable tourism.”
The importance of education and prevention is echoed by Valentina Colleselli (Fondazione DMO), Michele Titton (Mountain Rescue), Roberto Bressan (Veneto Alpine Guides), Sandro Cinquetti (ULSS 1 Dolomiti), Francesco Abbruscato (CAI Veneto), and Mario Fiorentini (Veneto Mountain Hut Association), united in sending a clear message: zero risk doesn’t exist, but knowledge can make the difference.
“Montagna Consapevole” is more than just an online resource — it’s a concrete invitation to experience the mountains with awareness and respect, protecting ourselves, others, and the environment.
