Sports and Legends

The Tofane ski area is known worldwide for the Olympia ski run, a track that has written the history of alpine skiing. Iconic and spectacular it has been the stage for major events: from the 1956 Winter Olympics to the 2021 Alpine Ski World Championships and the World Cup downhill and super-G races held here since 1993.

In 2026, the Olympia ski run will once again be back in the international spotlight as it hosts the Olympic downhill and super-G events, thus  restating its status as one of the most prestigious stages in the world winter sports.

Sofia Goggia captures its magic best: the only Italian racer ever to win Olympic gold in downhill  and winner of three World Cups on this very track (in 2018, 2022, and 2023) , she has described the Olympia as “her dearest racing track”

Technical details:

  • Length: 2,560 m
  • Vertical Drop: 750 m
  • Maximum gradient : 64%

The track starts with the Schuss, a thrilling steep wall that launches athletes to extreme speeds, followed by the Duca d’Aosta jump. From there begins the giant slalom section characterized by wide  and challenging turns, including the legendary Gran Curvone, a technical gate that pushes racers outward.

Next comes the Scarpadon, a blind and treacherous section, before reaching the Pale di Rumerlo area, gentler yet crucial because racers must maintain maximum speed right to the end, finishing with the artificial jump known as the “dentino” (little tooth).
